Story
I'm taking part in 130K for the 130K to raise money for MS Together.
I have very aggressive RRMS. My MS journey has been pretty rough but I’m still trying to get through everyday as best as I can. I was recently diagnosed with a very aggressive form of relapsing-remitting multiple sclerosis. I first developed double vision in July 2021, that was the time when I was actively looking for a teaching post. Since then, I have been having relapses almost every single month. My relapses normally affect my optic nerves which caused my eyesight to deteriorate overtime - 8 episodes of reoccurring optic neuritis on both eyes. As a result, I am now registered as sight impaired. My right hand and right foot are also suffering from numbness and weakness. I also suffer from a lot of MS related cognitive issues such as fatigue, brain fog, loss of words and memory issues. I have been in and out of hospital admissions for major investigations and procedures. As a result of my illness, I lost a lot of independence.
It’s estimated there are over 130,000 people living with MS in the UK. So, I'll be walking or running 130 kilometres throughout the month of May. I am late to this challenge, so I’d be completing it over the timespan of 15th May to 15th June.
MS Together is a new UK-based charity that exists to support services of advice and support to people affected by MS, with a particular focus on those aged 18-35 living with MS.
Any money raised will help them improve and expand their services so that they can support even more young adults living with MS.
