Story
Hello, I’m Sami and am running the London marathon 2025 to raise vital funds for the incredible charity Marie Curie in memory of my amazing nan Maggie!!
A little background story……
My lovely nan lived with my mum and nearing the end she needed round the clock care, it took a tole on my mum and my aunties. The impact mentally and emotionally was absolutely insane and we will never forget that. My mum eventually seeked help from Marie Curie. We had a couple of regular nurses who came into the home to help care for my nan so she could rest and try and gain some awareness. Not only were these nurses caring and would talk to my nan but they would enter the full family home with an absolute magical aurora around them, as if they were family with open arms. The support they offered to my mum and aunties was incredible and you could see the relief lift from them when we saw these ladies walk into the house. To be honest it is so hard to find the words to explain how much Marie Curie helped our family at a terrifying and emotional time.
I am and have been an avid runner for a couple years now and a dream of mine has always been to run the London marathon and I thought there would be no other charity I would love to run for, support, raise funds and help spread that vital awareness of Marie Curie. Running the marathon for Marie Curie combines a personal achievement for myself but my efforts will more importantly directly contribute to help improve end of life care and make a difference to others lives. Its a meaningful and impactful way to contribute to a noble cause and to help ensure that those in need receive the necessary care and support during challenging times.
I would love to help inspire and spread awareness of the difference Marie Curie makes, I have my heart set on giving back and I just want to help make a difference. I would try and do this by documenting my journey on social media and try and reach out to as many people as possible locally. My commitment is paramount and if there's one thing I do in my life it would be to make a difference in this world whilst doing something I love.
