Story
Brain tumours kill more children and adults under the age of 40 than any other cancer… yet just 1% of the national spend on cancer research has been allocated to this devastating disease. This is unacceptable! This is where Brain Tumour Research come in.
They are the only national charity dedicated to funding long-term, sustainable research in the UK.
I was diagnosed with a benign brain tumour 14 years ago. As expected it has since reared its ugly head a couple of timesand the side effects have been life changing. Notably when I lost use of my left side following an operation in 2017 to debulk (partially remove) the now cancerous tumour followed by 6 weeks of chemotherapy & daily radiotherapy. The standard of care since the 1970s.
After 6 years with no evidence of disease a second recurrence last year meant starting more chemotherapy because there is nothing else available.
That’s the chemotherapy drug that was approved in the 70s.
There needs to be more options.
Please help me fund the fight. Together we will find a cure.
And don’t just sponsor me because this is a great cause but this is a mega challenge for me.
