Story
As anyone reading this will probably know, in June 2013 we sadly lost my amazing Dad after a 8 month battle with MND.
My Dad, Martin was an amazing bloke & I know he will be shocked to see me taking this on but he will be with me every step of the way! I grew up with him doing things like the 3 peak challenges and always admired him.
I have always wanted to do something ‘big’ to raise money for this amazing charity and almost give back in a way for the help and support they provided our family through the short duration of time Dad lived with the illness, in May 2024 I will be taking on a 100k (around 62.5 miles) challenge, I will walk this without a stop over! We know first hand how helpful this charity is, they provided as much support they could whilst dad was poorly.
Last year I took on 26 miles for Macmillan. This was tough, along the Jurassic coastline, this walk will cover a lot of the walk I have previously done and an additional 36 miles on top of that!
I know this will be the hardest thing I have ever done in my life but that’s nothing compared to what people with MND have to face every day of their lives, it’s going to be physically & mentally draining but I will get it done 💪🏼
I will be keeping my social media updated throughout my training (as much training you can do with 2 small children!) and also keeping it updated throughout the walk, hoping everyone keeps me going along the way.
My MND shirt for the day has arrived, I would like to customise this for the day & include the names of people who are currently living with MND or have passed as a way of representing them on the day 💙 please if you know anyone please let me know their full name 💙
I know times are tough for everyone at the moment but I would be grateful for any donations. Tips and advice to get through the day are welcome too!
