We chose this charity as our dad was recently diagnosed with cancer of the oesophagus. This has been a huge shock for all of us as a family and we hope by running this we can support our dad and others going through this terrible experience.

Prevention and early diagnosis are two of the best tools we have when it comes to saving more lives, for those effected by throat cancers.

When caught early enough, we see survival rates of over 90%.

But sadly, too often, people either ignore or dismiss the warning signs and this can lead to a later stage diagnosis. This later stage means more aggressive, longer chemotherapy and radiotherapy treatment and in some cases, life changing surgical intervention.

Like other successful nationwide awareness campaigns for other cancers, such breast or lung, we believe it is important that the general public are made more aware of the signs to look out for when it comes to throat cancer...and get them checked out, before it is too late. We believe we too can make a difference in driving down throat cancer rates.
