Story
After college, I told myself I would never run again. The injuries I endured playing collegiate lacrosse and the constant pain I was in from my compartment syndrome was a true deterrent. However, as fate would have it, I couldn’t stay away forever. Last year I embarked on a journey back into my love of athletics. Shockingly, despite my 21 year old thoughts, I signed up for my first half marathon and began training to run 13.1 miles. Now over a year later, I am still pushing my limits and am about to embark on probably the most difficult physical challenge I have ever faced - the New York City Marathon.
I am proud to announce that I will be running the marathon with United Way of Long Island ‘s Mission United, which aims to connect veterans and their families with the services they need - from securing a roof over their heads, to finding a stable job, to getting health treatment. Currently, there are more than 40,000 military veterans living on the streets in our country and fighting to survive. I am raising money for Mission United to help them serve our Hero’s. Please consider donating to my page to help our nations veterans get the support and assistance they need.
