OMG SHE'S RUNNING A HALF MARATHON!!
For those who don't know me, I'm Sam and I HATE running.
However, those who do know me, will know that I lost my mum Sue, in 2020 to a brain tumour.
Dalcour Maclaren are in the midst of their charity year and raising money for Brain Tumour Research UK so I thought it's probably time for me to do something very out of my comfort zone and dust off my running trainers (or buy new ones) and get training to run 13.1 miles.
My mum was a very special person. She had a wicked sense of humour, she was loving, dependable and truly my best friend. In October 2019, we noticed that there were some weird things happening to mum like not being able to lift her arm, she was stumbling and one side of her face started to drop. We took her into A&E and the doctors originally thought she was having a stroke. After some tests and scans, we were told she had a brain tumour and after some consultations and a biopsy, we were told that the tumour was stage 4 and there was nothing anyone could do.
Brain tumours kill more children and adults under the age of 40 than any other cancer, yet historically just 1% of the national spend on cancer research has been allocated to this devastating disease.
Brain Tumour Research UK are the only national charity in the UK focused on finding a cure for all types of brain tumours through campaigning to increase the national investment in brain tumour research to £35 million per year, while fundraising to create a network of seven sustainable Brain Tumour Research Centres of Excellence across the UK.
So, this is me asking for any donation no matter how big or small to help BTRUK find a cure (pretty please).
