May 2022 Hit Hard
Back in May I had seizure at home, and was taken into a&e. My wife and in-laws witnessed this and I cannot thank them enough for what they went through and how they dealt with such a horrible situation.
Not a lot came from this experience, however after that I had an interesting bout of memory loss which I had on 2 previous occasions but didn't think anything of this.
Mentioning this to a friend and then having spoke to a health professional, I was taken straight into A&E in Newcastle (RVI) and within 2 hours I had a CT scan which showed some abnormalities and then a MRI which resulted in me being diagnosed with a brain tumor around the size of a golf ball in my right temporal lobe. Obviously I didnt listen to my amazing wife when she said something was wrong and I've put her through hell through this all and can't believe she's still here with me.
Once I had heard the news of a tumor medication began, and it wasn’t long before the discussion of surgery was brought up by the neurology team. I was operated on by a fantastic surgeon, Mr. Major at the RVI and had a brilliant team of NHS staff looking after me during recovery. However the operation was only a partial success and on Friday 5th I went in for a second operation to remove the residual tumor.
We want to start an annual event raising money to bring hope to brain tumour patients and their families. Every March, as Brain Tumour Awareness Month comes to a close, people from all walks of life put on their favourite hat at work, in school, with friends and family, and hold hat-themed events and make donations to Brain Tumour Research help find a cure for brain tumours, which kill more children and adults under the age of 40 than any other cancer.
The Brain Tumour Charity helps research and raise awareness of this devastating disease, campaign for the Government and larger charities to invest more, and fund ground-breaking research at Centres of Excellence where scientists are focused on improving treatments for patients and, ultimately, finding a cure.
