Story
A long-time colleague of mine of 10 years+, James Ashton, was diagnosed with MND on the day he retired from his professional career and has been battling this awful disease for over 7 years.
James was born by the sea and has loved being in, on and under the sea all of his life. He is a keen fisherman and loves boating around the coast of Devon.
James has been fortunate to be able to still access the sea in the last few years on his own specially modified boat. Having this opportunity has inspired him to open up the opportunity to other MND sufferers, and people with all kinds of disabilities, to access the sea in the same manner.
James has donated a new boat to the WETWHEELS FOUNDATION to operate in the Torbay area from the Spring of 2024. The boat will be available for people with all types of disabilities to participate in barrier free boating activities.
It is also true that James was an incredibly keen and proficient runner, and it therefore seems fitting to try and contribute to the fundraising of the Wetwheels Foundation by taking part in the Endure24 event which is a 24 hour relay race, which consists of a 5 mile loop which will commence Saturday 12:00pm and conclude 12:00pm the following day. I'm raising money to ensure that the boat is accessed by the maximum number of people each year.
Your support is greatly appreciated!
