Story

Hello! This January, I will be running the Dry January 10K 2025 in support of Alcohol Change UK.

This isn’t just a race for me - it’s a celebration of my personal journey through sobriety and addiction recovery.

Today I am 5 months sober.

With the support of loved ones, community peers at Delamere Rehab, and organisations like Alcohol Change UK, I’ve found strength, clarity, and a renewed sense of purpose.

This run is more than just a fitness goal; it’s a step forward in a life I’m building on hope, resilience, and compassion.

I want to use this opportunity to give back to the people and services that helped me recover and to raise awareness about the importance of supporting individuals and families affected by alcoholism and addiction.

I am asking for your help as I take on this challenge. Every donation, no matter how small, will go to Alcohol Change UK to support their work.

Visit my fundraising page to contribute and follow my journey as I train for the Dry January 10K.

Thank you for standing with me as I run not just for myself, but for everyone on the path to recovery.

About Alcohol Change UK

We are Alcohol Change UK. We work for a society that is free from the harm caused by alcohol.

We are not anti-alcohol; we are for alcohol change. We are for a future in which people drink as a conscious choice, not a default; where the issues which lead to alcohol problems like poverty, mental health issues, homelessness are addressed; where those of us who drink too much, and our loved ones, have access to high-quality support whenever we need it, without shame or stigma.

How your donations can help:

* A donation of £20 could support around 20 people reduce their drinking through the Dry January® Challenge.

* £30 could help us develop and deliver more training for front line workers and improve support for dependent drinkers.

* £40 could cover the costs of supporting 16 people for six months to reduce their drinking through our Try Dry® app.
