Story
We sadly lost our beloved friend Simon who over the years had faced many challenges with his health. Throughout this period Simon never complained or questioned and continued to charm all those around him.
Simon pushed himself in all things he did and always strived for the best and was never one to turn down a challenge. In addition to his strong will, determination he never once craved the spotlight. On many occasions he truly amazed all those around him by setting records and milestones at school, university or during his time within the special forces that still stand today.
In testimony to his achievements, bravery and willingness to accept challenges a group of his close friends will embark on the Yorkshire Three Peaks in his memory. In 2007 Simon was one of the youngest competitors to compete in the event and not only that he managed to finish within the top 10 as a schoolboy within a field of Tier 1 International athletes.
The course: “the Marathon with Mountains”. 23.3 miles navigating through Pen-y-ghent, Whernside and Ingleborough totaling 1,609 m (5,279ft) ascent and descent. We welcome any support along the way. No doubt we will need it. We will be navigating our way around the route in Blue to honor Simons natural choice of opting for the School House vest no matter whether in competition or in training.
The charity: we will be raising funds for St Michael’s Hospice who helped support Simon and the family. During his time at St Michaels the team of doctors, nurses and specialists played a vital role and provided the appropriate care and support which the family are most grateful for.
All are welcome and we hope to see many familiar faces and share our own stories of our good friend and charming man Simon!
