Story
The Salt & Tar Music Weekender 2024 represents an incredible coming together of people in Bootle to celebrate community, friendship and music. We are asking Salt & Tar gig-goers to make a donation to support Alder Hey Children's Charity, in recognition of the incredible work they did in response to the horrifying events in Southport on 29 July 2024.
If every single audience member donates just £1, we will raise £12,000 for this amazing Liverpool-based organisation. All of us must know someone whose life has been touched by their work.
Alder Hey Children’s Charity wishes to express its deepest condolences to all those affected by the tragic events in Southport. The charity extends its thanks to the heroic emergency services who responded to the events, including our own incredible Alder Hey staff.
The charity is working with the Community Foundation for Merseyside, Sefton Council, Sefton CVS, the National Emergencies Trust, The Fundraising Regulator and the Charity Commission to ensure the speedy and efficient distribution of all funds to the families and those impacted by the incident. This work is already underway.
The majority of the funds raised so far have been allocated directly to the families concerned and in line with learning from other incidents. This effort is being coordinated to ensure families are not put under additional pressure of needing to access multiple agencies or individuals to receive funds.
The response team is also looking at the longer-term impact on those involved in the incident and the wider community, such as children whose friends were involved, and any additional support or services they may need.
