Story
In a month's time I will be running the Great North Run, raising money for Dementia UK on behalf of my father-in-law, Roy. He was diagnosed over 4 years ago and his health and memory has deteriorated significantly. If it wasn't for the love and commitment of his wife, Daisy he would be living out his days in a care home. Dementia UK need every penny to help people like Daisy giving them the support they need to cope (for example £279 pays for an Admiral Nurse to answer calls on the Dementia Helpline on a Sunday, when families have nowhere else to turn).
60,000 run the Great North Run around the streets of Newcastle on Sunday 8th September. Bert will be running in the junior event the day before. I know we are always being asked to put money into our chosen charities so if you have any little spare pennies please donate for this worthwhile cause.
I will keep you posted on my day. I was secretly aiming on a fast time but I go in on the back of an injury so it will all be about enjoying the day - running, walking, limping if I have to - and aim to raise as much from the day as possible! Please help me! xx
