Tour de Vale 75km ride, 11 June 2023
Liverymen of the Worshipful Company of Wheelwrights and their friends are supporting WheelPower by cycling the Tour de Vale ride on 11 June. Some are even cycling to Stoke Mandeville and back to London!

Story

Wheelwrights on two wheels to support WheelPower, who do wonderful things for children who use wheelchairs, like Lillie.

Two years ago, 15-year-old Lillie was involved in a devastating car accident that resulted in a spinal cord injury. Last year, she registered for her first WheelPower event, the National Junior Games, a multi-sport residential event at Stoke Mandeville Stadium. The Games provide disabled children with the opportunity to participate in up to 20 different sports and activities.

“Sport is everything to Lillie and she wanted to carry on playing especially basketball, archery and swimming. She can’t go out where we live, as we are quite remote. So there’s nothing for a younger teenager. But sports to Lillie is her life, helping her physical and mental wellbeing. If she wasn’t able to do sports I think you would see a totally different person.”

The money raised by taking part in The Tour de Vale will fund a range of events and programmes that enable disabled children to lead healthier, more active lives.
