Story
SAINTS staff and postgraduate students come together to run for StudentMinds!
On 20 October 2024, 6 members of the SAINTS (UKRI AI Centre of Doctoral Training in Safe AI Systems) CDT (made up of teaching staff, support staff and postgraduate research students) will be taking part in RunForAll Yorkshire Marathon Relay.
Members of the SAINTS CDT team will be taking part in the RunForAll relay which will take them through the beautiful and ancient streets of York and while they may not be the fastest team, their incentive is invaluable, to raise vital funds for Student Minds.

Student Minds is the UK’s student mental health charity. Their goal is to transform the state of student mental health so that all in higher education can thrive. Their work supports students to develop the knowledge, confidence and skills to look after their own mental health, support their peers and create change. Student Minds also work collaboratively with institutions, students’ unions and other organisations involved in higher education, supporting them to take a whole-university approach to mental health.
“The SAINTS relay team is working hard to train for the Marathon - It’s a bit of a step away from Artificial Intelligence (AI) research, but like AI, it’s definitely got to be a team effort.” Dr Jenn Chubb, RAI Lead, Co-Investigator (SAINTS CDT).
"At SAINTS the PhD no longer feels like 'the loneliness of the long-distance runner' but has all the excitement of collaboration. Like our Marathon Team :D" Professor Tom Stoneham, Ethics Lead, Co-Investigator (SAINTS CDT).
