This charity Fix the Fells has repaired over 200 paths since it began in 2001 and these cover more than 400 km. We maintain and monitor nearly 200 more paths, totalling nearly 400 km, and we are surveying another 325 paths. The number and priorities change over time as some paths erode more quickly and new ones are identified.
Each year a combination of National Trust and Lake District National Park rangers schedule work from these 344 paths. The work plan is then approved by the Programme Board.
With all this important work going on repairing the paths and surrounding areas it will make peoples walks more enjoyable and safe for many years to come.
