Running The London Marathon For Abigail's Footsteps

London Marathon 2025 · 27 April 2025 · Start fundraising for this event
💜 I’m running the London Marathon 2025 in memory of Rebecca Ely-Cook, proudly raising money to support Abigail’s Footsteps.
💜 I have been fortunate enough to spend time with the Abigail’s team (and Abigail bear!) and know how wonderful they are and the incredible work they do. Alyssa (Rebecca’s mum) is one of my very best running friends and we have spent countless miles over the years, running, putting the worlds to rights, and in doing so I’ve had the honour to hear her story and all about her daughter, Rebecca, who was stillborn in 2011. Every training run I hear from Alyssa the amazing work the Abigail’s team are doing- from the purchase of cold cots for hospitals, the provision of bereavement training for midwives, and guidance and support to families suffering baby loss. If I can help support them in this effort in any way then I would absolutely love to, for Rebecca.
💜 Please help me reach my fundraising target by donating sponsoring me!
Abigail's Footsteps are a baby loss charity providing support and counselling for bereaved parents and families as well as specialist bereavement training for midwives and healthcare professionals.
Since 2010, they have worked to improve the way bereaved parents are cared for by hospitals and to better educate midwives on how to care for grieving parents. Sadly, stillbirths and neo-natal deaths occur daily, yet many hospitals are not equipped to deal with the parental care required, they have inadequate facilities and their staff receive little to no bereavement training.
One of their greatest contributions as a charity has been the creation and funding of the Abi Cooling Cot which allows parents valuable time to spend with their baby before saying goodbye. These cots are distributed UK wide wherever the need and as funding allows.
Thank you for reading my story and if you can support this cause I will be extremely grateful.
