Story
My dad has been diagnosed with MND for a year and there are no words to describe how devastating this disease is.
In just 1 year he has become non verbal, he is fed through a peg inserted into his stomach and is unable to move any part of his body.
It is hideous, it is cruel and it is heart breaking and I feel completely helpless watching him die like this.
MND is once again in the news because of the death of MND Association patron Rob Burrow CBE. His death has really affected me, possibly because the disease is constantly on the news so its even more on my mind. I need to turn the helplessness I feel over being unable to save my dad into something positive that will keep my mind off the inevitable.
For the remainder of June Molly, my ponies, Obi and I will be aiming to walk 100 miles whilst raising funds for MND Association. We will do this by riding, long reining, inhand walking and pushing Obi in his pram. I might even get my bike out or worse still, run.
I am hoping my friends will saddle up and join me along the way.
The MND Association focuses on improving access to care, research and campaigning for those living with or affected by MND in England, Wales and Northern Ireland.
