Story
Sacred Heart are delighted to be taking part in this exciting fundraising project – Big Fun Art Adventure – to support North London Hospice. The charity has been caring for local people since 1984 and is committed to empowering patients with life-limiting illnesses, supporting them to achieve the best quality of life possible. They welcome people from all faiths and communities within the boroughs of Barnet, Enfield and Haringey and provide physical, emotional and spiritual care to patients and families, friends and carers. All their services are provided free of charge but they only receive about quarter of the funding needed from the government and rely on donations to cover the rest.
Big Fun Art Adventure is North London's largest free public art trail that will take over Haringey in August 2024 for eight weeks. At least 30 giant, artist designed owl sculptures plus up to 40 smaller owls (one of them will proudly wear our Sacred Heart badge badge!) will also be on the trial. Together they will celebrate the vibrancy, culture and creativity that North London has to offer. We are adopting an owl and can’t wait to have fun designing and decorating it, and then seeing it out on the trail.

Why have we chosen to take part in the project?
- To help us explore new art forms and develop our children's creativity, confidence and artistic skills. - It will support health and well-being by encouraging our families to explore the trail in the summer and locate our school owl! -Teach our children the importance of community and being part of a bigger community project with other schools. -Give our children a sense of pride seeing their artwork alongside professional artists. -Raise an awareness and funds for our local hospice, which has supported many of our Sacred Heart community in some way old and present, in a fun and engaging way. - We will get to keep our 1m high fibre glass owl once it returns from the trail and display as a lovely remembrance of the project.
We will be posting updates on the progress of the project on this site and our school social media.
