Story

Jude Cunnane very sadly and suddenly died aged 7, in October 2021 as a result of his complex epilepsy. Jude lived in Poole with his family and loved running about on our beautiful local beaches.

Jude was diagnosed with epilepsy just before his 1st birthday. From that point on Young Epilepsy supported him and his family, through diagnosis, investigations, treatment and specialist care. Young Epilepsy are also at the heart of groundbreaking research into epilepsy and novel treatments, which Jude benefitted directly from. Young Epilepsy strives to improve the lives of children and young people affected by epilepsy.

Jude suffered so much in his life from the burden of his epileptic seizures. But he also loved living his life to the fullest, making the most of every day. His resilience in the face of adversity shone through.

Jude’s loss has devastated our community beyond measure, but we are determined that something positive should come from these most distressing of circumstances.

I am running the 2024 London Marathon, in memory of Jude and in aid of Young Epilepsy. Jude’s motto was “be kind, be brave and never give up”. No doubt his wonderful words will help get me round the course in April.

I’d be hugely grateful for your support for such a worthy cause.
