Story
I'm running the London marathon this year in memory of my brother, Tim, who died in January.
Tim was diagnosed with a craniopharyngioma brain tumour in 2018. He had surgery to remove the tumour but this left him with a pituitary condition which he had to manage with daily medications.
Tim bravely battled numerous complications and conditions following the operation over a 6 year period. During this time his continual upbeat outlook on life was inspiring. Unfortunately though, the complications and conditions took a toll on his overall health. Tim went into hospital in December last year with a problem with his lungs. Once again he gave it everything to try and recover, but sadly this was a battle he couldn't overcome.
The Pituitary Foundation helped Tim with the conditions he was living with. It was a cause that was very close to him and his wife, Sarah. They have both raised money for the Foundation before - Tim climbed Mount Snowden in 2019 (a challenge I still can't believe he managed), and Sarah ran her first half marathon last year too.
So now it's my turn. I've run marathons before, but this one has so much more meaning to it. I hope to do him proud and make this one my best yet.
Thank you for taking the time to read my story.
