Ryan's fundraiser for The Sussex Beacon

Brighton Marathon 2025 · 6 April 2025 ·
Running for Jason, Running for Hope: My Brighton Marathon Journey.
On Sunday April 6th 2025, I'll be lacing up my trainers and joining thousands of other runners in the Brighton Marathon. This isn't just about the personal challenge of conquering 26.2 miles; it's about something much bigger, something much more meaningful. I'm running in memory of the unforgettable Jason Sutton, also known as the fabulous Miss Jason, and to raise vital funds for The Sussex Beacon, a charity that was incredibly close to his heart.
Jason was a force of nature, a vibrant personality who brought joy and laughter to so many. He was also a dedicated patron of The Sussex Beacon, understanding the invaluable work they do in supporting people living with HIV in Sussex. The Beacon provides essential services, from practical support and counselling to helping people live fulfilling lives. They offer a lifeline to individuals and families facing incredibly difficult circumstances, and they do it with compassion, understanding, and unwavering dedication.
Jason’s commitment to The Sussex Beacon was testament to his generous spirit. He recognized the importance of their work and championed their cause tirelessly. He understood that the challenges faced by those living with HIV are often complex and require specialized support. He knew that The Beacon provides that support, offering a safe and welcoming space where people can find help, hope, and community.
For me, this marathon is personal. It's a way to honour Jason's memory and celebrate his life. It's a way to give back to a charity that meant so much to him and continues to make a profound difference in the lives of so many. Every step I take will be a reminder of Jason's infectious energy, his unwavering kindness, and his commitment to helping others.
The training has been tough, I won't lie. There have been days when my legs have screamed, and my motivation has wavered. But then I think of Jason, his spirit, and his passion for The Sussex Beacon, and I know I can push through. I think of the people whose lives are touched by The Beacon's work, and I'm reminded why I'm doing this.
I'm asking for your support in reaching my fundraising goal for The Sussex Beacon. Every donation, no matter how big or small, will make a real difference to the lives of people living with HIV in Sussex. It will help The Beacon continue to provide their vital services, offering hope and support where it's needed most.
Please join me in honoring Jason's memory and supporting The Sussex Beacon. Together, we can make a difference. Thank you.
