Story
Late last year, my family’s world was rocked when my Dad was diagnosed with Cancer. It affected us all massively, me especially as he is my best mate, my drinking buddy, my travel companion, and I considered him invincible. Whilst visiting Christie’s for his treatment, one thing that struck me was- cancer doesn’t discriminate. Young, old, black, white, man, woman, it affects everyone, including my sister Deborah Brown who also went through treatment a few years ago and has thankfully made a full recovery, living life to its fullest. Eventually I thought to myself, ‘what can I do?’ So myself and my brother in law, ‘Spike’, who is also Deborah’s not so better half, have decided to do a sponsored walk to try and raise some money for the wonderful Christie’s and their amazing staff. Starting at Ludlow castle we will walk 59 miles non stop, ending up at Nantwich Town Football ground, a place which resonates with myself as the coaching I have done there over these past months, and the people involved with the club, have really helped me take my mind off things. We will set off around midday Saturday, and will look to arrive at Nantwich Town 24 hours later on the Sunday… more than ready for a beer! I’m well aware it’s a mere drop in the ocean towards what is needed at Christie’s, and much less than what the brilliant, hardworking staff deserve but we both wanted to do our bit and help in anyway we can. Any contributions would be greatly appreciated no matter how small, and hopefully we can raise a decent amount for a wonderful cause. Thank you 😊
