Story
Brain tumours kill more children and adults under the age of 40 than any other cancer… yet just 1% of the national spend on cancer research has been allocated to this devastating disease.
I am fundraising for Brain Tumour Research as they are the only national charity dedicated to funding long-term, sustainable research in the UK. Please help me fund the fight. Together we will find a cure.
The trip is 390 miles up the coast of Portugal, and across into central Spain with a total elevation of 6700 meters. To do this in my allotted time is the equivalent of 16 marathons in 16 days in expected 22-30 degree heat, and, carrying all my own equipment on the way.
I have just over 3 months to get into the best physical fitness of my life to try to undertake this feat, although complete this will be just as much of a psychological struggle as it is physical. I expect this to be physically exhausting as much as mentally draining.
However, this seems fitting giving the struggles that Brain Tumour sufferers and survivors have to deal with. Over the last few years i have known too many people who have been diagnosed with Brain Tumours, some slow acting, others fast. Some with positive outcomes, others not.
It is my hope that everyone i know will come together for this worthy cause.
Best,
Ryan
