Story
In May I will be taking part in The Great Outdoors Challenge, an annual event where participants walk from Scotland's west coast to the east, following their own personally planned route. I will be attempting to walk from Mallaig to St Cyrus covering 318km(196miles) over 14 days carrying everything I need for the journey. I’ll be wild camping, staying in bothies and the odd hotel.
I will be fundraising for the Scottish Mountain Recuse that is a charity that represents 25 volunteer mountain rescue teams and over 850 volunteers that provide a world class rescue front line, voluntary search and rescue service that is available any hour, any day and any weather in Scotland’s Mountains. Every 3 out of 5 of their rescues are funded through fundraisers like this. Half of the funds raised will be forwarded to The Glencoe mountain rescue team by the Scottish Mountain Rescue. This charity means a great deal to me having been supported by one of their teams in the past I’m forever grateful for the support they have given me and others who enjoy Scotlands mountains! :)
