Cancer does not discriminate, and sadly, we’ve all had an experience with it. It is possible that you might have had your own battle with it or you might have a parent, sibling, child or dear friend who has been affected by this terrible disease. You will have seen first-hand the far-reaching effects it can have. Cancer wrecks lives; and the only way that we can one day hope for a cancer-free future is through research.

We, Ruth, Emily & Christina (Mandy is injured this year), have teamed up to run our hometown marathon- the 2025 TCS London Marathon on the 27th of April, 2025. We are so excited to be doing it in one of the most beautiful and vibrant cities in the world, London; and know that we will feel the massive support of sooo many of our friends and family.

We believe strongly that research is the key to finding treatments and cures and thare fundraising for Oncogene Cancer Research (OCR) which will in turn grant all funds to the Institute of Cancer Research (ICR).

Oncogene Cancer Research was started by our super-star friend, Yvonne, soon after her stage 4 lung cancer diagnosis. OCR funds research for cancers originating in the lungs and works hand in hand with the ICR.

The ICR is one of the world’s most influential cancer research institutes, with an outstanding record of achievement dating back more than 100 years. Their mission is to make discoveries that defeat cancer. Some of their biggest discoveries include:

✅ the identification of the BRCA2 gene in breast cancer;

✅ discovery of early chemo drugs and

✅ treatment for advanced prostate cancer

With Oncogene Cancer Research and others’ help, the ICR is also supporting research into mutation-driven lung cancers – which tend to impact younger people with none of the typical lung cancer risk factors.

Your support can fund research that will have the maximum benefit for people with cancer! Every day we are getting closer to a cure, but meanwhile treatments are being found that can turn cancer into a long-term illness. The future is full of challenges, but also full of so much hope. Ya sea que hayas librado tu propia batalla o que un padre, hermano o amigo cercano haya sido afectado por esta terrible enfermedad, sabes que la realidad es dura: el cáncer trunca sueños y destroza vidas. Y la única manera en la que algún día podamos aspirar a un futuro libre de cáncer es a través de la investigación.

Por eso, Ruth, Emily y Christina (lamentablemente, Mandy está lesionada este año) se han unido para correr el maratón de nuestra ciudad: el TCS London Marathon 2025, que se llevará a cabo el 27 de abril de 2025. Estamos emocionadas de hacerlo en una de las ciudades más vibrantes y hermosas del mundo, y sabemos que sentiremos el gran apoyo de muchos amigos y familiares.

Después de correr en París el año pasado y en otras carreras, no somos masoquistas, pero estamos convencidas de que la investigación es fundamental para combatir enfermedades terribles que destrozan tantas vidas.

Estamos recaudando fondos para Oncogene Cancer Research (OCR), que a su vez donará todos los fondos al Institute of Cancer Research (ICR). Oncogene Cancer Research fue fundada por nuestra increíble amiga Yvonne, poco después de que le diagnosticaran cáncer de pulmón en etapa 4. OCR financia investigaciones sobre cánceres que se originan en los pulmones y trabaja de la mano con el ICR.
