Story
We all know someone affected by cancer. In our family, sadly one of those people was my Aunty, the Reverend Ruth Scott. Through her work, Ruth was an inspirational figure. In particular her Pause for Thought reflections on the BBC Radio 2 breakfast show for almost 25 years resonated with millions of listeners around the world.
Ruth battled lymphoma for 2 years and her warmth and compassion are missed by us all (you can listen to Ruth's last broadcast here - https://play.acast.com/s/chrisevansvirginuk/chrisevanswithreverendruthscott)
To honour Ruth’s memory and to raise vital funds for Macmillian Cancer Support, I cycled 1,001km (622 miles) in 48hrs 13mins. Starting at Ardnamurchan Point in Western Scotland, near to where some of Ruth's ashes were scattered, down to Winchester Cathedral where the rest of her ashes remain.
Ashes to Ashes.
Ruth and our family were hugely supported by Macmillan Nurses, so for every 10km I ride, I would like to fund one day of a Macmillan Nurses time.
£247 will fund 1 nurse day, and approx 10km of my ride.
£33 will fund 1 nurse hour.
