Story
Hello,
In 2011, I was diagnosed with my first malignant melanoma (MM). It was a shock, a horrid shock. In December 2022, I had my fourth MM. Living with cancer has been challenging but I’ve tried to embrace life and make the most of each and every day. Part of my recovery is giving myself challenges. This year to celebrate 71 years young, I’ve set myself a challenge to do my first ever sprint triathlon in May (swimming and running are ‘way outside’ my comfort zone).
I’m raising money to support the work of ‘MOVE AGAINST CANCER’
There's increasing evidence that moving more during and after cancer treatment can significantly improve physical & mental wellbeing. MOVE is embarking on a mission to support & inspire people to Move Against Cancer. MOVE deliver an 8 week online programme for 13-30 year olds diagnosed with cancer. Their 5k Your Way initiative linked with “Parkrun”, is a supportive community for anyone affected by cancer to go along to their local group & walk, jog, run, cheer or volunteer on the last Saturday of the month. I was fortunate enough to have a 5KYW set up locally last Autumn 2023. One of the ambassador’s, having been through the online programme himself. “Move against Cancer” also have a variety of online resources.
It would be great to be able to raise some money for this small charity as I attempt to swim bike run(!). Testaments from the young people who’ve been through the programme all talk about the positive impact the online programme has on their physical and mental well being. Knowing that I will be raising money for MOVE AGAINST CANCER will give me added motivation.
Thank you for visiting this page and thank you for your donation to MOVE AGAINST CANCER. Ruth 😘
