Story

Help Me Put My Passion for Running to Good Use – Support Fabry Disease!

This year, I’m excited to be running the London Marathon, not just for the thrill of it, but to make a real difference by raising awareness and funds for Fabry disease – a rare condition that I was diagnosed with in April 2024, just like my mum. Running has always been my go-to for stress relief, my way to unwind and clear my mind. Now, I’m using that passion for something bigger – to help others affected by Fabry.

For those unfamiliar with Fabry disease, it’s a rare genetic disorder that can affect many parts of the body, including the heart, kidneys, and nervous system. It’s caused by a lack of a key enzyme, leading to the build-up of harmful substances in the body, which over time can cause serious complications. Because Fabry is so rare, it often goes undiagnosed for years, meaning people suffer without even knowing why.

But here’s the good news: we can do something about it! Every donation will go directly towards funding research and supporting programs that improve diagnosis and treatment for Fabry. Your support will help give hope to people like my mum, myself, and countless others who live with this condition.

Running a marathon is no walk in the park, but for me, running is second nature – it’s always been my way to recharge, reset, and refocus. So, what better way to channel that energy than to help a cause so close to my heart? Anyone who knows me knows that I’ve always been about giving back and helping others (often at my own expense and to Simon’s sanity), so turning my love for running into a way to support Fabry just makes sense.

With your help, we can make a real difference. Whether you donate a little or a lot, every bit counts toward supporting those living with Fabry and funding research to improve their lives. Let’s take this marathon stride by stride and make a lasting impact together!

Thank you so much for your support – it means the world to me!
