Story
Hi all! I’m running the London Marathon this year to raise money for Urolink, a committee within the British Association of Urological Surgeons (BAUS), that helps provide expertise and much needed Urological equipment and training to help doctors and patients in resource disadvantaged countries.
With your support, we can help raise funds that support the urological training of surgeons in these countries, promote professional visits from colleagues overseas for teaching and provide essential equipment that can be of immediate benefit for patients.
Some of the challenges Urolink are currently working on include developing access to ultrasound for PCNL (stone surgery) and transperineal prostate biopsies in Africa, both of which would significantly reduce patient morbidity and the risk of sepsis. We rarely consider the wealth of expertise and equipment availability we have in the NHS – in these resource disadvantaged countries, even the smallest contributions can be augmented many times over. Your donation, no matter the size, helps bring this vision closer to a reality. Our fundraising target of £2000 will go in its entirety directly towards Urolink projects. And no doubt help motivate some very tired legs.
