Story
We (Sally and I) did Rome marathon a lot slower than hoped, and as it turned out with COVID! This left us with a desire to complete another marathon to achieve a genuine healthy PB. So here we are going for it in our own Capital and for a very inspiring organisation that is the Brathay Trust. We really hope you can donate a couple of quid towards this amazing charity as we give it our all over the next 3 months.
Brathay works with children, young people and families across Cumbria and West Yorkshire. Focussing on:
• Mental Health • Parenting & Family Support • School & Employability
There are many reasons why a young person may be referred including; suffering with poor mental health, struggling to navigate school, becoming isolated from friends and family, low self-esteem, self-harm, at risk of exploitation, unable to find the right path towards training and employment, or a difficult home life.
£10 supplies essential resources for a community youth group session.
£25 provides a young person with the opportunity to try a new activity at Brathay Hall.
£50 pays for a counselling session with an employment coach to help boost a young person’s career prospects.
£100 pays for three sessions with an employment coach to help a young person find work or training.
£250 provides a hot meal and memorable group activities at one of our community centres for around 15 young people.
£500 funds over 30 hours of direct youth work young people in the community.
£1000 provides two young people in need with the opportunity to go on a life changing 5-day residential in the Lake District.
"Our charitable work is underpinned by enterprising fundraising and our supporters’ commitment. We know that, enthused by the belief in the transformational power of people working together, you can help us make a positive difference. Work with us to transform the lives of young people.
There are so many ways to help and discover the Brathay effect that is at the heart of everything we do."
