Swimming the "Hurly Burly" for Level Water

Fundraising for Level Water
£1,673
raised of £750 target
Event: Hurly Burly 2024, on 21 September 2024
Set in North Wales on the edge of Snowdonia, this is one of the most beautifully wild swims you’ll find. It starts on the sandy beach of Barmouth and takes place on a fast incoming tide that works like a bore to assist your swim.

Story

To atone for the lifetime's guilt of allegedly putting my foot down during my 25m test in Newtownards Baths in 1978, I have decided to take on a 10km swim on 21st September up the Afon Mawddach estuary into Eryri (Snowdonia). If we're quick enough, we will have the benefit of the incoming tidal bore, so it will definitely be a different sort of Saturday morning.

The event is also being run to generate funds for the charity Level Water, helping to improve lives for children with disabilities by giving them the opportunity to also enjoy the water. I am conscious of testing your generosity once again but if you were able to spare some change that would be hugely appreciated.

Thank you very much.
