Story
Starting on the 5th September, i'll be taking on a multi-marathon challenge, running 400km around the Norfolk border in 11 days.
That works out at around 35km a day for almost 2 weeks.
I’m doing all of this to raise money for the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) at Norfolk and Norwich Hospital.
I’ve got two beautiful little boys - Oscar and Noah. They both spent the first week of their lives on the NICU ward, and my wife and I experienced first-hand the care with which the NICU staff handle the most delicate situations. The staff on the ward go above and beyond, not only for the vulnerable children in their care, but for their families too - who are experiencing every parent’s worst nightmare. The doctors, nurses and healthcare assistants on the NICU do whatever they can to make a nightmare situation a little bit easier.
Fortunately, our two boys only had to spend a short while on the NICU ward - but lots of babies and their families aren’t so lucky. Some babies have to spend months on the ward, without knowing when they’ll be able to start their lives at home.
Since witnessing the compassion and empathy that the NICU staff showed to my family, I have been determined to fundraise whatever I can to contribute to their invaluable, life-saving work. The money raised from my run will fund life saving equipment, additional training for staff and even pay for accommodation for parents, so that they’re able to stay close to their baby while they’re on the ward.
We can’t thank the incredible team at the N&N NICU enough. No words can explain the gratitude that I feel for every one of them. Every penny raised will help them continue with their vital work.
Any donation, no matter how small, is going to a wonderful cause. Thank you for supporting it.
