I first ran the London Marathon in 2022. Originally I was on a charity place through The British Heart Foundation. Whilst training I sadly lost my mother very quickly to cancer so also fundraised for the Institute of Cancer Research at the same time in her honour. I raised €6000 split equally between both charities.

I was lucky enough to get a ballot place in 2023, for 2024. However after suffering from plantar fasciitis for a good 9 months I was unable to take part and I was able to defer to 2025. Under a ballot place there is no requirement to fundraise but I would still like to raise a few pennies for a good cause.

I have chosen to fundraise the LionHeart charity in form of a thank you to some immensly kind people who assisted me on trip to Hong Kong, to visit where my grandparents lived and work in the 1950s and 60s, as well as where my father and aunties were born and grew up. My grandfather was a RICS graduate and after a short spell in Singapore was sent to set up the Hong Kong office of Davis Langdon & Seah in 1949.

Whilst researching my trip I was fortunate enough to establish contact with former partners of DLS as well as those who had met my grandfather and also researched his work. It was a great honour for me to hear all the kind words they had to say about him and they all made the trip an experience I will never forget. More importantly all have or have had a part with RICS in one shape or form.

LionHeart is the charity for RICS professionals, past and present, and their families. They have helped thousands of surveyors and their families for over 100 years, and plan to be here for many more.

Their services are available to every member of RICS and their families, from APC candidates right through your career and into retirement.

Donations are absolutely vital to their work. They help people who have maybe hit a tough time in their lives, by providing financial help, work-related support, counselling or legal advice.
