Story
As our dear friend Phil faces the immense journey of battling ocular melanoma, a challenge that has impacted him and his wife Helen, we felt moved to take on our own challenge. While our endeavour pales in comparison to what they're facing, this is our heartfelt attempt to support them in any way we can.
Introducing our mission: I, Lynda, will be running the Oxford Half-Marathon on Sunday,15th October, championing the cause of OcuMel UK, a charity dedicated to battling this rare cancer. My fantastic husband, Barry, will be by my side, cheering me on (and providing much-needed leg massages!).
However, I'm absolutely no marathon runner: my experience mainly involves little more than 5km ParkRuns, so training for this half-marathon, especially as I approach my mid-sixties, is proving no small feat. Yet, every step I run is powered by the thought of the invaluable support OcuMel UK offers to patients, medical professionals, and care-givers navigating ocular melanoma.
Join us in making a difference. By sponsoring my run, you're supporting OcuMel UK and sending love and strength to Phil, Helen, and everyone affected by this very rare condition. From the depths of our hearts, thank you for your generosity.
