Helen runs the London Marathon (finally!)

London Marathon 2025 · 27 April 2025 · Start fundraising for this event
Thank you for visiting my sponsorship page. Here’s a little bit of background to my London Marathon journey…
Lots of you will know that I had a place to run the London marathon for Action with my friend Becca back in 2020, but 6 weeks before the event, it got cancelled due to COVID. Since then, my marathon dreams have been on hold and the last 5 years have been filled with lockdowns, babies, house moves and weddings, but now finally the time has come!
5 years ago I didn't know much about Action Medical Research, but in 2022, it suddenly became a charity very close to my heart. In August of that year, I gave birth to my first daughter Lilly. She was born at 29 weeks and weighed an impressive 2lb 12 ounces, but due to an infection and little lungs, she lived for only 6 hours. Since losing Lilly, Jon and I, along with our friends and family, have done lots of fundraising for charities such as Tommys, Ickle Pickles and Sands. Now, I look forward to once again fundraising for Action Medical Research and I’m really excited (and nervous) that they’ve given me one of their 2025 London Marathon places.
Action Medical Research is the leading UK-wide charity saving and changing children’s lives through medical research. For 65 years they’ve helped pioneer ways to prevent disease and develop treatments benefiting millions of people and in particular, research into premature birth and pregnancy complications.
We hope to raise as much money as possible for Action, to help fund research that will mean other families don’t go through the heartbreak we did.
