Story
In September 2020 my best mate Hughie was diagnosed with Acute lymphoblastic leukaemia (ALL), he was 10 and I was 9. Since the day I found out about Hughie I have been fundraising and once Hughie was over the worst of his treatment we continued together doing everything we could to raise awareness of blood cancer.
I know how it feels to be told your best mate has blood cancer, the treatment is brutal and it's absolutely horrible to watch on and not being able to do anything to help, to go through three and half years of treatment and uncertainty was really tough for us all but we were so lucky that Hughie's treatment was successful and we can continue to do things like this to raise awareness and support Cure Leukaemia who are funding potentially life saving clinical trials and research that offer new treatments - and new chances - to patients.
We met James and the Cure Leukaemia team through Hughie's paediatric consultant at RMCH and we are both really proud to now be ambassadors for the ATICUS campaign.
I am so excited to be able to join James on his final Run The Nations challenge for the Southampton stage on Saturday 20th September... I just hope I can keep up!!
Please donate and share my page, Cure Leukaemia are incredible and I'm so proud to be a part of their journey!
Thank you so much - Fred :)
Move The Nations Info: This September, I'm moving for the 96,000 people who will be diagnosed with blood cancer around the world. Will you move with me?
I'm joining Cure Leukaemia’s Move The Nations – the exciting challenge to get the globe moving for a collective 96,000 minutes during Blood Cancer Awareness Month. That’s one minute for every person expected to be diagnosed globally this September.
Whether it’s walking, running, cycling, dancing, gardening, paddleboarding, skipping, or climbing mountains – Cure Leukaemia wants you to get creative, get moving, and get fundraising. Because every 27 seconds, someone somewhere is told they have blood cancer. But together, we can give them hope.
By moving your body, you’re helping Cure Leukaemia fund potentially life-saving clinical trials and research that offer new treatments – and new chances – to patients right now.
