Story
In March, the Calverley CE Community received the sad news of Nicky Sunderland's diagnosis with Bowel Cancer, which came as a shock to all associated with the school and the local area. Nicky has been an integral part of Calverley CE for 22 years, truly embodying the spirit of the school community.
Nicky is a resilient fighter who is tackling this challenge with tremendous courage and determination. We stand united to support her.
After having lots of chats with Nicky (we all know that she loves a good chat), I have decided to embark on a fundraising campaign to support her and others battling this disease. Nicky's journey is monumental, and we aim to make a meaningful impact.
From October 2024 to May 2025, I will be running 5 marathons in support of Bowel Cancer UK, ranging from the TCS London Marathon to the Rob Burrow Leeds Marathon - and many in between. The goal is to raise funds directly benefiting Bowel Cancer UK. That's over 131 miles for Nicky (and hundreds more in training!). She's worth a lot, lot more than that but it's a start.
During each race, I will be wearing an official Bowel Cancer UK running vest. If there are any corporate sponsors who would like to advertise their company logos on the vest then this would be most welcome. Please contact me for any further details.
Throughout this period, Nicky has been a true inspiration—positive, resilient, and simply incredible. We are here to help her with every step of the way. Together, we can do this.
They are the UK's leading bowel cancer charity. They're determined to save lives and improve the quality of life of everyone affected by bowel cancer. Your support will help anyone with bowel cancer by funding vital services and lifesaving research.
I kindly ask for any contribution you can spare towards this cause.
