Dopey Challenge 2027 - 5k, 10k, Half, Full Marathon
In 2018 I completed the 13.1 mile half marathon and followed up in 2019 with the 36km challenge (5km, 10km, 21km over three days). Then in 2020 I signed up for the WDW marathon but due to COVID restrictions I had to settle for running 26.2 miles around my village!
I finally managed the Disney World marathon in 2024!
So a (potentially final) challenge is needed, the Disney World Dopey Challenge.
This one will be tough, a 5k run day one, day two is 10k, day three is a half marathon and the final day is the full marathon.
I want to say a massive thanks to everyone for the kind sponsorships. As a reminder here are my times:
September 2018:
13.1 miles - 2:46:26
September 2019:
5K - 33:44
10K - 1:06:18
13.1 miles - 2:27:58
December 2020:
26.2 miles - 6:18:51
January 2024:
26.2 miles - 6:10:24
This will be tough for me and will require a lot of extra training, so I have given myself till January 2027 to get ready.
I will be funding the travel, entry fee etc. all myself so all the money raised will go to Mind.
For those who don't know, the reason I picked Mind is due to my Uncle taking his life in early 2017. Due to the stigma surrounding mental health he was convinced his illness wasn't in his mind and must have been a physical problem. Mind are working to remove that stigma and get people talking and get people the help they need.
The love I have for all my various hobbies come from my Uncle, in particular my love for theme parks. My ability to spend my free time visiting them around the world is only possible because of him.
