Story
Please support me as I #RunforMark the London Marathon 2024 in memory of my brother Mark Slocombe just over a year after his death from bowel cancer. I am running to raise awareness and to fundraise for research to help beat bowel cancer.
Mark was a keen athlete and runner, completing an ultramarathon event shortly before his diagnosis with bowel cancer in October 2022. Unfortunately, he declined rapidly despite his fitness and died in March 2023. Mark encouraged many people to get outdoors and be active. I’ve not managed more than 10k in my life before this, so taking on this challenge is my tribute to him and a great opportunity to support the work of Bowel Cancer UK.
Bowel Cancer UK fund targeted research, provide expert information and support to patients and their families, educate the public and professionals about the disease and campaign for early diagnosis and access to best treatment and care. Their mission is to stop people dying of bowel cancer, and spare families and friends the heartbreak we’ve experienced since Mark’s diagnosis and his death.
Please donate now to encourage me to keep training through the long months ahead, and so you can be part of contributing to this great cause in memory of my beloved big brother, Mark Slocombe, and all those affected by bowel cancer.
