Story
William Martin School are raising money for the UK Sepsis Trust in memory of Ruby Trussler. After the devastating and sudden loss of our beautiful Ruby on 11th October 2024 at just 6 years old, who contracted sepsis while in the PICU at Addenbrookes Hospital. Ruby was a kind, happy and brilliant little girl who is so very missed.
UK Sepsis Trust says: "Fundraising is at the heart of our fight against sepsis. It raises awareness, and sparks the question: “What is sepsis? In this way, fundraising can help prevent thousands of deaths & unnecessary suffering through knowledge & awareness of the symptoms. It also funds our vital support work, Public Awareness, Educating Health Professionals & helping people adjust to life after sepsis through accessing our Support Group network. We also lobby government to support our cause and makes vital changes in areas such as the NHS".
On the 24th May, Ruby’s Mum and Dad Emma and Dean Trussler, Ruby's older sister Ellie Falconer and her boyfriend, Louis, and some of our staff members, Gina Bailey, Ben Collin, Jemma Stevens, Molly Campbell, Natasha Simpson, Sophie Cannell, Tammy Howard, Kim Horseley, Andrea Wood, along with Gina’s son Joe who is very kindly making sure we don’t get lost and Jim Collin who has given up his time to drive us all the way, will be taking on the 24 Hour 3 Peak Challenge! This involves climbing the three highest peaks of Scotland, England and Wales, within 24 hours. We are very grateful To Passmores Academy in Harlow who have kindly donated us the use of their minibus.

The total walking distance is 23 miles (37km) and the total ascent is 3064 metres (10,052ft).
Other staff members who are unable to join us for the Three Peaks are undertaking their own walking challenges which we will keep you posted on. The children of William Martin School will also be completing challenges to help with fundraising.
All donations to this cause which is so close to our hearts will be greatly appreciated! Keep an eye on this page for our training updates!
