Story

Hi it's Vanessa and Fiona here! 👋🏻

It's that time of year again when we sign up to one of Action Challenges - Ultra Challenges. Thank you to everyone who has followed me (Vanessa) the last few years whilst I took part in the IOW Ultra Challenge. This year we wanted to push ourselves with a fresh challenge! 💪🏻

We are taking part in the Jurassic Coast Ultra Challenge! This challenge takes place along the Dorset Coast on the 17th-18th May. We will be walking the continuous 100km starting at Corfe Castle, the route heads down to Swanage and along through Lulworth Cove, past Durdle Door, with the halfway mark at Weymouth. It's the past Portland Bill, Chesil Beach, onto West Bay and finishing at Bridport! 😅

I have managed to sign up one of my best friends to take on the challenge with me - Fiona will introduce herself in the next post. 😇

We are raising much needed funds for the RSPCA Isle of Wight Animal Centre in Godshill. A cause very close to both of us, we see first-hand the need for these crucial funds to save the lives of our Island's most vulnerable animals. 🐶🐱🐰🦢

We have already begun training which is going well despite the weather! 🌦️

We have crazily also signed up for the IOW Ultra Challenge to use as a training walk! Why not push even further! 🤣

We will keep you posted on our journey to the big day! We hope you will be able to share our passion for animal welfare and the amazing work of the RSPCA IOW and help us raise as much money as we can to make a difference! 🥰

Thank you for everyone's support and kindness so far - we're going to need our community to help us keep going! 💙

Hi I'm Fiona, but known as Fee.😊

I am a self proclaimed crazy cat lady, and I've been adopting animals since I was child.

We adopted Luci-fur from the IOW RSPCA in 2021. They really helped us find the right cat that would compliment our older cat Nelson. We couldn't have asked for a better fit, and they truly get along so well. 🐱🐱

This gave me the confidence to have both of the cats stay at Bohemia Boarding earlier this year.

I've never had my cats go to boarding before, mainly because of Nelson's medical issues. However I don't know what I was worried about, as the cats were so well looked after and I was updated and reassured the whole time. 🥰

I met Vanessa at Boogie Bounce a number of years ago now. I knew we'd get along as soon as we started chatting about animals. I remember how surprised I was when Vanessa told me that donations from the RSPCA head office, don't get filtered down to local branches. They are purely funded by what is raised through adoption and donations directly to the Isle of Wight Animal Centre.

Unfortunately I am not allowed to adopt all the cats, which would help with donations. So I thought I'd help Vanessa to raise awareness and much needed contributions by walking 100km with her along the Jurassic Coast. I did say I was crazy!! 😅

Unfortunately it does cost money to help all the animals that they care for, and they can't do it without our support!

Picture of Luci-fur below for cuteness! 😻
