Story

After 10 years of failed ballot entries....I finally got a ballot place!!! So on 27th April 2025 I'm choosing to run the London Marathon for Marie Curie and I couldn't be more excited!

Since 2016 my family and friends have been fundraising in memory of my uncle Willy. The Belfast Marie Curie hospice were a huge help and support to Willy and the family. Willy joked that he was 'the fittest and sickest he's ever been' after the weekly physiotherapy sessions that Marie Curie provided for him.

Starting with Jaki raising over £10,500 for Beating Bowel Cancer in the London Marathon in 2015, 'Willy's Warriors' was created at the Belfast City Relay Marathon with friends and family uniting to run and fundraise. Since then, there have been 8 years of relay runners (and a bonus marathon team in Rome) where over £20,000 has been raised.

Marie Curie provides a better end of life for more people, whatever the illness. They’re here for anyone living with any illness they’re likely to die from, and those close to them. They provide free palliative and end of life care, information and support. They campaign for more people to have a better end of life and fund palliative care research.

Any donations you can make is so valuable to Marie Curie and means so much to my family and friends in tribute and memory to Uncle Willy.

// £3 helps fund a meal for a patient in one of their hospices.

// £26 helps fund an hour of bereavement support by phone or webchat.

// £207 helps fund nine hours of overnight nursing care in a patient's home.
