Story
Hello folks, I am taking on the London Marathon to fundraise for Sobell House Hospice, a charity my family and I cherish.
On the 26th of May 2023, my Dad, Rob Alexander, sadly passed away after a brutal 8-month battle with cancer. His absence has left a large hole, and it's hard to comprehend that he's gone.
Dad had Stage 4 Lymphoma, which progressed to his central nervous system. A disease that endeavoured to dampen his spirits but failed to weaken his resolve as he persevered through various setbacks and treatments.
We were desperate for Dad to spend his last days at home with us and not in a dreary hospice. It wasn't until we arrived at Sobell that we realised what a fantastic place it is.
Sobell House Hospice offer end-of-life care that goes above and beyond to provide a comfortable setting for end-of-life patients and their families. Sobell House Hospice requires £2 million a year in donations to operate and thus relies heavily on fundraising efforts.
In the Spring of 2024, I take on the big smoke. It obviously will be a huge challenge, but I feel ready for it with Dad's strength pushing me through. I ask you to donate what you can as thanks to Sobell for the care they gave to Dad so they can continue providing a brilliant service for other families in crisis.
