Hello and Happy New Year!
We have been absolutely blown away by your response to this cause.
Thank you to all of you who are supporting Ukraine by helping the people there get this vital medical aid.
Hugo and I are raising money through Medical Life Lines Ukraine to buy and recondition an ambulance, fill it with life-saving medical equipment - defibrillators, medicines, bandages, endoscopes, as much as we possibly can - and then drive the ambulance to Lviv. Any excess funds are used to buy medical and other aid, additional equipment and vehicles needed by the emergency services - maybe even an all-terrain rescue crane…
Medical Life Lines Ukraine works closely with the health and emergency authorities in Ukraine to identify what is needed so that people get what they actually need, where they need it.
Ukraine is about to face a horrible winter with much of its energy infrastructure targeted by Putin. No matter what happens after Trump takes office, they will be desperately short of vital supplies for years to come. Medical Life Lines Ukraine has already delivered 86 ambulances - some of which have already been destroyed by the war.
We both felt, after nearly three years of watching, horrified, as Putin’s army set about pulverising its neighbour, that we had to do something. We both passed our ambulance driving proficiency test (me wearing platforms so I could actually reach the clutch. I’ll have to wear them all the way to Lviv) and are committed to doing this small thing for a country that needs all the help it can get. We will be two in a convoy of eight - 4 ambulances, volunteer drivers, mechanics and paramedics. If the situation in Lviv deteriorates, or is deemed too dangerous, the ambulances will be collected at the Polish border and we won’t enter Ukraine. Please help us do this. We are incredibly grateful for your support and we know the Ukrainians receiving the ambulances in Lviv will be too.
