Story

Hi all, I'm embarking on a fitness challenge to train for the Barcelona Half Marathon with Queer Run Margate and to raise vital funds for the charity I work for Catching Lives.

150 days of movement starts Friday 20th September 2024 and ends February 16th 2025 with the Half Marathon in Barcelona where I'm hoping to smash my previous PB from many years ago.

For 150 days I'm committing to getting up and moving my body, getting stronger and fitter whilst hopefully supporting the work Catching Lives does in Canterbury. Even on recovery or rest days, I'll be making sure I do a full yoga session or long walk. I'm also hoping to rope in some of my Queer Run Margate pals to take on some days of movement with me and will be running alongside the beautiful QRM team on the day in Barcelona.

I'll be posting on my stories each day and tracking all sessions on Strava as well as on Instagram & Facebook to keep myself accountable and share my progress.

Updated 17th November 2024:

Hi all, thanks so much for your support and donations so far. I've realised that my home, gym and yoga workouts are not being updated here as Strava only syncs km's so it looks like I'm missing some days. If you're interested in seeing that I AM actually working out everyday (or want proof, you can check out my Strava (Rosie Bartlett) or my Instagram where I post on my stories daily (@rosebartlett_)

Why Catching Lives?

Catching Lives is a small homelessness charity working across East Kent. Our day centre in Canterbury is open 7 days a week providing a friendly welcome, basic facilities (food, laundry, showers), support including a mental health specialist, and activities such as arts, cookery and gardening. We also do street outreach and tenancy sustainment. Our aim is to offer a safe, inclusive space and help people move towards personal recovery and independent living.

Our vision is of a society where everyone has a safe place to live and the opportunity to lead a fulfilling life.
