Story
Globally 1 in 3 women experience physical and/or sexual violence in their lifetime, mostly by an intimate partner
To raise awareness and funds to help stop widespread violence against women and girls, I'm joining the Better Bearings Skate 30 challenge this November!
š¼āøļø
I will be lacing up and skating on all 30 days of November for at least 30 minutes. Those who know me will know this might not sound difficult enough..! So I will be taking requests from my skate friends of moves to try and and learn, and posting the results. This goes for quads, inlines, ice or ramps. Just be nice š - no 540Ā° misty flips or triple axles! š
Follow my progress @rosetoesrolls and check out others via the @skate30_challenge.
I feel proud to be joining others in the community of this beautiful sport in using our platforms to speak out about things which shouldn't be happening in 2023, but sadly still are. Let's be brave and have those uncomfortable and frank conversations. I believe that awareness and education of what is and isn't acceptable or normal can help change the narrative for women and girls.
About UN women:
In everything we do, and all we aim to achieve, we are committed to advancing gender equality and the empowerment of women. UN Women programs in over 100 countries worldwide are working to accelerate gender equality through five focus areas - ending violence against women and girls; ending poverty through enhancing womenās economic empowerment; responding in humanitarian crises; increasing womenās leadership and political participation; and ensuring womenās inclusion in peace making processes and negotiations.
āØPLEASE NOTEāØ that the Skate 30 Challenge was created by the Australian Committee for UN Women, but funds raised go to UN Women's global trust. This means it supports their programs around the world. A donation of 40 AUD is equivalent to approx Ā£20 and a donation of 20 AUD is approx Ā£10. Thank you - your donation and support mean a lot to me.
