Story
I am running the Hackney Half to raise money for Vasculitis UK after a close family member was diagnosed with Granulomatosis with Polyangiitis (GPA), which is a form of Vasculitis.
Vasculitis is a rare condition causing inflammation of blood vessels, which affects around 2 - 3000 new people in the UK each year. It can affect any organ and can cause a range of symptoms such as loss of sight, loss of hearing, damage to the lungs or brain, and loss of digits or limbs - to name but a few.
There is currently no cure and as it’s so rare, I am fundraising to raise its profile as well as to help those who currently have the disease.
Vasculitis UK is a fantastic charity which supports those suffering with this disease and their families, through providing information and advice. They also work with medical professionals and organisations to support the recognition, diagnosis, and treatment of Vasculitis, as well as supporting research into its causes and effects.
Any money you can give is very much appreciated and will be going to an excellent cause!
