12 races in 12 months to send more kids on camp

Rory Edwards is raising money for Scouts Scotland

Marathons and more

Scouts believe that every young person should have the right to experience the power of adventure. That’s why we’re challenging ourselves to raise £25,025 in 2025 to invest in adventure.

Story

I'm running for Scouts Scotland this year to support its work with disadvantaged communities and to send kids who can't afford it on camp.

The plan is to run 12 races in 12 months including the Edinburgh Marathon, the Glen Ogle Ultramarathon and any other slightly silly event I can get my hands on an entry for. There's even rumours of a mildy crazy 24 hour endurance epic but news on that as and if it comes together.

I was an awkward kid and sometimes bullied but Scouts was where I found belonging and learned to be myself. I doubt my leaders will ever know how grateful I am.

Now my own kids are Scouts and camp is one of the highlight's of their year, but it isn't like that for everyone. We have kids who turn up without proper boots or waterproofs, 100s who never go on camp because they can't afford it, and 1000s that miss out because they are stuck on a waiting list or don't have a group locally.

I want to help change that and would be so grateful for anything at all you can give in support.
