Help My Dad’s Journey: Support QEF with Your Donation

https://www.qef.org.uk/story/colins-story/

In April 2024, my dad's life changed in an instant when he suffered a horrific fall at a tube station in London. He fractured his skull, suffered a stroke, and discovered that he had a serious heart condition that required a pacemaker. The road to recovery seemed impossible at first, but he was transferred to the Queen Elizabeth Foundation (QEF) for rehabilitation.

QEF has been an absolute lifeline for my dad. Their incredible team has worked tirelessly with him to help him regain strength, independence, and hope for the future. Despite his challenges—compounded by living with MS—he has shown extraordinary resilience and determination. He is still in a wheelchair, but thanks to QEF, he has made progress, and we are hopeful that with continued care, he can keep moving forward.

Over the last year QEF has worked with over 10,000 disabled adults and children living with physical and learning disabilities or acquired brain injuries, supporting them in gaining new skills and increased independence.

Whether its learning everyday life skills, rebuilding a life affected by brain injury or acquiring the skills to drive a specially adapted car, QEF supports disabled people to achieve their potential, so they can be as independent as possible and live enriched and fulfilled lives.

There are 16m disabled people in the UK.

Every 90 seconds someone is admitted into hospital with an acquired brain injury.

In the next 20 years, the rate of first-time strokes in people 45+ is expected to rise by 59%.

Now, I’m asking for your support to give back to the incredible team at QEF, who have given my dad a fighting chance at recovery. Your donation, no matter how big or small, will help provide the vital resources and expert care needed to help others like my dad who are working hard to regain their independence and quality of life.
